These records consist of muster rolls, accounts current, abstracts of disbursement, returns of the recruiting party, receipts of property from the state of Alabama, enlistments, oaths of soldiers, discharges, payroll of the engineer force at Fort Morgan, reports of independent companies, invoices for individuals for pay and expenses, requisitions, and miscellaneous other records. This series documents primarily the military activity around the time of Alabama's secession and prior to the formation of the Confederacy. The bulk of the collection relates to the early part of 1861.
